This study determined the knowledge, attitudes, and sexual risk behaviors of Grade 9 and Grade 10 adolescents in public and private high schools of Pangasinan on HIV-AIDS. The descriptive research design was employed using a self-structured questionnaire to gather data. Moreover, frequency, percentage, average weighted mean. Spearman Rho of Correlation and Chi Square Test of Independence was utilized as tools for data analysis. This study involved 1.730 adolescents in public, and private high schools of Pangasinan. Majority of them are aged 15 years old and above (55.2%). females (58.9% ), Roman Catholic (87%), single (99.9%), live in the urban areas (85.6%), and accelerated (93.4%) to Grade 9 level (51.2%). Most of their parents are married (83.6%), college graduates (58.2%), government or private employees (44.4%), and earn more than P10,000 per month (38.8%). Adolescents in Pangasinan are moderately knowledgeable on the nature (47.1%), stages (40.0% ), diagnosis (37.7%), modes of transmission (37.2%), treatment (31.3%), and slightly knowledgeable on the prevention (26.0%) of HIV- AIDS Adolescents in Pangasinan are undecided on how to get along with PLHIV-AIDS Most of them are at low risk in acquiring HIV-AIDS due to their exposure to pornography, alcohol or drugs, and perceptions to be engaging in risky sexual activities A significant relationship exists between the socio- demographic profile and the knowledge; attitudes; and sexual nak behaviors. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes; and sexual risk behaviors. There is no significant difference between the knowledge. attitudes, and sexual risk behaviors between the adolescents in public and private high schools; and selected municipalities in Pangasinan It is recommended that teachers and health care professionals should try to utilize the audio-visual presentation to enhance the knowledge and understanding of adolescents in Pangasinan on HIV-AIDS. The Department of Health with the Department of Education shall provide relevant and updated trainings and seminars to teachers that will expand their understanding on HIV- AIDS and be imparted to students to increase their knowledge, foster positive attitudes and practice safe sexual activities. Similar or parallel studies may be conducted to explore other variables that affect the knowledge, attitudes and sexual risk behaviors of adolescents.
