Summary, etc. This descriptive study identified and analyzed the writing competence of grade 5 pupils in the Laboratory Schools of Teacher Education Institutions in the City of San Fernando, La Union. Specifically, it determined the level of writing competence of the pupils along mechanics, organization, and content; and the writing errors along the given indicators. Data were collected using a writing composition. The particpants were 40 randomly selected grade 6 pupils enrolled in the 3 laboratory schools of teacher education institutions in the City of San Fernando, La Union during the schoolyear 2017-2018.
