The study " A Journey Through Birth and Beyond: Exploring the Lived Experiences of Rural Health Unit Nurses " was conducted to explore the lived experiences of Rural Health Unit Nurses in terms of personal, psychological, social and professional aspects. The study is qualitative in nature utilizing descriptive qualitative phenomenology as its research design. Participants of this study were Rural Health Unit Nurses in Pangasinan. There were seven participants and they were chosen through purposive sampling in the form of homogenous sampling. A semi -structured interview was utilized to generate information about the lived experiences of RHU nurses in the practice of MNCHN. The interviews were transcribed verbatim and were analyzed. The responses of the participants were processed and yielded two themes and seven (7) subthemes. This result encompasses constructive involvements and undesirable involvement. The constructive involvements included the following subthemes, to wit Enriching lives, challenge to care, building on strength and service to humanity. Furthermore, the undesirable involvements included the following, social multiplicity, carrying the burden and feeling of demoralization. With the two emerging themes such as constructive involvements and undesirable involvements this has vital bearing in RHU nurses. It is established that RHU nurses affect them constructively by wanting to enrich the lives of their patients by sharing their proficiency in the practice of MNCHN, by showing that they really care through implementing the MNCHN program, by building on their strength through increasing their knowledge and skills and by having the opportunity to serve humanity in terms of MNCHN services. It also affects them in an undesirable manner, it affects the RHU nurses by societal multiplicity of clients in terms of diverse personality and diverse belief, by carrying the burden that might affect the services of RHU nurses like personal experiences in terms of time constraints to their family, burn out and stress and by<br/>feelings of demoralization in terms of blame by patients when something went wrong. Based on findings and conclusions, RHU nurses must continue updating their knowledge and skills in MNCHN services to be able to accurately and appropriately implement the MNCHN program, and should lengthen their patience in the practice of MNCHN services to their patients. Frequent counseling and time management for the RHU Nurses must be addressed to avoid stress and burn out. In addition, a follow up study specific to patients that received MNCHN services. |
