Summary, etc. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of inquiry-based approach in the teaching of Earth Science to Teacher Education. Program students. Mean average scores and two tailed t-test statistical tool was used to describe and determine the significant differences on the effectiveness of Inquiry-base approach in the teaching of Earth Science to TEP students. Findings are the performance of the TEP students exposed to inquiry- based approach improved only after they were exposed to it. This was determined by comparing the result of the pre-test and post-tests. There were significant differences on the effectiveness of inquiry based approach and the traditional approach based on the computed t-value is lower than the probability value .05 level. This simply showed that the inquiry-based approach is more effective than the traditional approach in the teaching of Earth Science to teacher education program students. The following recommendations are offered: The inquiry based approach is highly recommended and suggested especially to science teachers to promote interactive classroom discussions. This can develop critical thinking skills, better understanding of the subjects and help student become better learners and helps prepare them to be life-long learners (Bruner). This study can serve as benchmark for further studies that can be conducted especially on the effectiveness of other modern teaching approaches that may suit the 21st century learners. Similar study may be conducted using other variables that may target not only the effectiveness and improvement of student performance but as well as values integration.
