Since the Second Vatican Council, the Supreme Pontiff of this time have made use of the terms "evangelization" and the "new evangelization" to refer to the current situation of the Church of today, Paul VI followed the lead of the Second Vatican Council in enriching the emphasis of evangelization. The church have been very discerning about her mission of evangelization of bringing Jesus Christ and his teachings throughout the world. This is what the Second Vatican Council down to the present has proved throughout the years, Paul VI passionately have set the ground breaking for evangelization and eventually have developed by his successors naming it the new evangelization. One manifestation of the centrality of Jesus Christ in doing evangelization is for the evangelizers to embody him, to live out Jesus' examples and teachings. The ways of Jesus must also be the way of the evangelizers. To be credible witnesses of the Lord especially in this time of a globalized world is what Paul VI is trying to assert. Paul VI gives importance on the necessities of evangelizers. The Church is an evangelizer. It is the collaborative work and participation of all the baptized But as an evangelizer, Paul VI highlights the importance of the Church to constantly evangelize herself to retain freshness, vigor and strength in order to proclaim the Gospel so as to create an evangelizing community. A community that relates and witness the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
