520 _aThis research developed a validated Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) worktext in Speech and Oral Communication for Grade 11 students in the K-12 Curricular Program. The study determined: the competencies that need the preparation of a Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) Worktext; the students' level of mastery of the competencies to be developed in the subject; the computer -assisted language learning material worktext that can be prepared to improve the performance o the students in the subject; the content validity of the CALL Worktext in terms of objectives, content, instructional characteristics and evaluation procedures, and the content validity of the CALL software in terms of instructional characteristics, layout, and sound The Research and Development (R and D) Methodology was used. In the study the researcher used two survey questionnaires to gather data, a questionnaire that gathered data on the extent of need for a worktext and a questionnaire that determined the level of students' mastery on the competencies in Speech and Oral Communication. A validation checklist was used to evaluate the worktext and the computer- assisted language learning software that is utilized to support the worktext. The study was conducted in the province of locos Norte .All English teachers teaching Speech and Oral Communication in the different HEIs both public and private and all students enrolled in the subject comprised the respondents of the study. Eight panel of evaluators who are experts in English and curriculum material writing were involved in the content validation of the worktext while four experts in IT were asked to evaluate the computer software for the worktext. Descriptive statistics particularly mean was used to analyze the evaluation of the English teachers regarding the need for a worktext; the students' level of mastery of the skills included in the subject; and the results of the content validation of the worktext and the computer software. In addition, the comments and suggestions given by the validators were taken into consideration to further improve the worktext. The significant findings of the study include the following: The teacher respondents believed that a worktext is very much needed. The students' perception of their level of mastery of the competencies in the subject is average. The following recommendations are offered: A training on the use of a Computer Assisted Learning Language Worktext for Teachers is encouraged to orient them with the components and use of CALL worktext and to meet the demands of the changing times; the Computer Assisted Language Learning can be utilized by teachers as an alternative delivery mode of teaching; and the developed Computer Assisted Language Learning Worktext in Speech and Oral Communication can further be validated, enhanced, reproduced and used by teachers and students.
