This study aimed to determine the level of quantitative research competence pf senior high school research teachers in La Union Schools Division as a basis for the proposed research capacity training. The study used the sequential explanatory research design by Wisdom and Creswell (2013) for which the quantitative data gathered is validated thru a qualitative data. Data were gathered through a survey questionnaire validated with an interview to selected senior high school research teachers. There were 76 schools participated in the study were 82 senior high school research teachers answered the survey and the competency test. Meanwhile, purposive sampling was used to identify the ten (10) teacher-participants to participate in the interview. Finding revealed that majority of the senior high school research teachers pursued advanced studies, attended limited trainings in research, and conducted minimal researches. In addition, their level of quantitative research competence was Moderately Competent, meaning they have average competence in quantitative research. Likewise, there was a strong significant correlation between highest educational attainment, number of specialized research trainings attended, and number of researches conducted by the research teachers and their level of quantitative research competence. Five themes namely inadequate knowledge and skills in research, insufficient experience in conducting research, lack teaching qualification, limited research seminars and trainings, and scarce resources emerged as factors affecting the difficulties in teaching quantitative research. The difficulties and challenges of teachers in quantitative research serves as basis in crafting the Research Capacity Training.
