This study aimed to assess and analyze the awareness and implementation of Gender Mainstreaming in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Region 1 as basis in crafting a three (3)-year strategic plan. Specifically, it looked into the awareness and implementation of gender mainstreaming in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Region 1 as a basis for crafting a model and strategic plan. Specifically, it looked into the level of awareness and extent of implementation of gender mainstreaming along gender - sensitive curriculum, gender responsive research program, and gender responsive extension program.
Mixed methods approach using sequential explanatory was employed with a researcher-made questionnaire as the data gathering tool validated through the use of one-on-one interview. The respondents of the study were the three hundred eighty two (382) school administrators, faculty, non-teaching personnel, and students for the quantitative part and four (4) GAD focal persons for the qualitative part during the School Year 2022-2023. Frequencies and means were the statistical tools used in the study.
The respondents were highly aware and highly implemented on gender responsive curriculum, gender responsive research program, and gender responsive extension program. A thematic model and a validated strategic plan were developed to enhance the awareness and implementation of the respondents on gender mainstreaming.
